BODEGONES DE FRUTAS Y VERDURAS MODERNOS. MODERN STILL LIFE OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

I have always avoided painting the ''Typical Still Life'' because I do find them boring to do.   One day I decided to find a way to paint them in a modern way and have come up with this mixed tecnique.  You can now see for yourself the results.

Bodegones Primaverales // Spring Still Life

Bodegones de Verano // Summer Still Life

Bodegones Otoñales // Autumn Still Life

As you might have observed, the background of these paintings are with acrylic paste and the fruits and vegetables have been painted with Oils.  With this new method of painting Still Life it is not necessary to frame the art work, as they do look beautifully on walls painted in different colors.

ARTE ABSTRACTO / ABSTRACT ART

A veces pintando algún sujeto me he sentido que me estaba superando, pero he seguido pincelada a pincelada, con paciencia, perseverancia y tiempo, y he ganado. Since I can remember, I have always dedicated my time to Figurative Art, capturing reality to the last detail, whether using grafite, water colours, pastel or oil paints.  Within the possibilities where one can be creative with Figurative Art, I have tried to personalise my art work mixing tecniques and materials, with the idea of creating my own style.  I would like to say that figurative art, moves me when I am able to supersede the challenge.   Sometimes, painting a subject, I have felt that it was too much for me, but with each brushstroke, patience, perserverance and time, I have come out winning.  I try to look for challenging subjects.  It is a continuous struggle and there is always a winner, either the subject or me.

In general, when one goes to a contemporary art, modern or abstract art museum, we have heard on occasions the following or similar comments : ''It looks like the painting of a child'' or ''My 5 year old grandchild can paint that''.  I would like to mention that the best interpreters of these types of art styles are children, because they are not socially prejudiced and feel what they see without analysing.  Up till now, when I paint an abstract, I ask children their opinion.  They are the best judges due to there impartiality.  They see through their hearts.   If they don´t feel anything for the art work, than I cover it with guesso and paint something new on top.  The worst thing that can happen to an artist is that the observer does not feel anything for his artwork.

I have discovered that it is not easy to paint abstract.  To express on an empty canvas the interpretation of one´s sentiments aided by the betrayal of one´s subconcious, always keeping in mind the colours to be used, materials to be applied and corporal movements that have to be carried out to make the painting a reality.  I have realised that there is a reason for each stroke and a meaning to it.  The art work has to be painted in one sitting because sentiments can evolve leading to others and it could change the direction of the artwork, creating caos.

I am going to talk about my art work and its ''reasons''.

Nuestro ''YO''

I call this art work - Walking to the Future.   We begin from nothing and although we live on a day to day basis, we are continuously evolving towards an unknown future.  As we come to the end, it becomes clearer and we start to understand the reason of our existence.  Our ''ME''

This art work is called : Life´s Cycle in Vortex.  Sometimes I feel I am living a cycle that is absorbing me and that it has no beginning nor ending.  It consumes me and I can´t do anything to leave it.  The only thing I can do is continue to walk towards the future although it is not clear where it leads to.

Its called : Islands in a Ferocious Ocean.  We are small islands against life.  The waves and wind sweep down on us, trying to change and polish us to their ways.  Sometimes they suceed and other times they don´t.

This is called : Slavery.  From when we are born and until we die we are slaves to our lives.  Our priorities, responsabilities and obligations tangle us in such a way that there is no escape.

Tic Toc, Tic, Toc.  Queda poco y mucho por hacer.  Corre, corre, corre....

Stress is the name of this art work.  All day running around, looking at the watch, because there isn´t enough time to do everything. Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc.  Life is escaping us and the watch won´t stop.  There´s little time and lots to do.  Run, run, run.....

Its title is : Pollution.   The definition of polution is intense contamination and in the moral sense, desecration and corruption.  We are living an uncontrolled evolution and we don´t know how to stop.  Are we on the course of self distruction?

Y por último : Enlaces Familiares.  Nacemos, nos reproducimos y morimos.  Es esta la razón de nuestra existencia?  Demasiado sencillo, no?

This last one : Family Ties.  We are born, we procreate and we die.  Is this the reason of our existence?  It´s too simple, no?

I  don´t know , but my intentions with all this is to transmit what I have learnt by personal experience of what an abstract artwork can mean to an artist.

The Art Festival always takes place in June.  This year it falls from 21 to 24 June 2012, at the Avenida del Mar in Marbella.   It is the fourth edition and I know that although we are in the middle of an economic crisis, it is going to be a total success. The Festival is not only about Art, but it is about Shows and Music, to give ambiance to our Festival.

When one thinks about Marbella, what comes to our minds are the Beach and Sport Tourism.   We, the Artists, are struggling to find a place in Marbella and a protagonism, because we think that we can share and even attract other tourists looking for fun.

CORRE CABALLITO CORRE - RUN LITTLE HORSE RUN

A friend of mine asked me the other day whether I liked horses and I answered that I enjoyed observing them, especially when they are running.  I like their elegance, their straight and clean lines.   I understand that they are very intelligent and affectionate animals, as well as good company.

I would like to show you as follows the evolution of another art work.  This time it´s of a running horse.  I have to admit that the challenge on this occasion is the moving sand around the horse´s legs.

Espero que os haya gustado.  I hope you liked it.

Estar a gusto.

On this occasion I have had the colaboration of Ismael Almagro, who has written the poetry for the Bar El Limpia, as well as the description of our experience there.

We discovered Bar El Limpia, thanks to Ramón, a new friend whom we met at the Hotel Hospital de los Llanos in Benasque. We asked our new friend to take us on a gastronomic tour through Zaragoza and he saved this very interesting bar for the end, where he presented us to Emilio and Nacho, the owners.  Their original tapas and especially friendly service attracts very interesting people.  After having been five minutes in this bar you feel that you belong to a new family, who day after day go there to spend some time together.

Although you will find a variety of people, from students to journalists, and from business men to government employees, they all look for the same thing, to feel good.   We recommend you confirm this for your self by going to Zaragoza and saving some time to spend at this bar.  But, if you are not looking to making new friends, then maybe... this Bar  is not for you.

LULU

When one thinks about nude photographs, the first thing that comes to mind are obscene and erotic ones.   It does not always have to be like this.  There are some really good nude photographic art.  I am lucky to say that I have as a friend a photographer that specialises in portraits.  STEFAN RALDHOLM took up photography aprox. 5 years ago and during these years I have observed his progress taking place in a very personal direction.  His photographs are full of expression and are very orginal.  I like them so much that I asked for his authorisation to use one of his wife, Luisa, as the subject of my painting.  To know more about Stefan you can visit FLICKR.

Painted on canvas with oils. I accept commisions for this type of art work.

PACIFICOS AL OLEO // OIL PAINTINGS OF HIBISUCS

The Hibiscus is a very common flower and can be found in gardens and parks.  It does not need special cares and flowers all year round.  It is perfect.  We are so used to seeing this flower everywhere that we ignore it.  Once one begins to analyse it, one can observe that it is truely a beautiful flower in its simplicity.

One day I decided to take my camara and stroll in some parks close to home.  I took photographs of hibiscus with the idea of painting them. Here are the results of my stroll.

Espero que os guste.  I hope you like them.
